Community Service
For High Schoolers

High School students can earn service hours, & we would be happy to write recommendation letters.

Scouts programs are welcome

Below are some of the ways that high schoolers could help with the MFMII program. Must be reliable, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team.

  • Publicity – posting flyers about MFMII training/events in the community, promoting MFMII events/training on Facebook and online.

  • Recruitment in the community – helping out at our interactive, community booths (eg at Fremont Festival of the Arts, Newark Days, library music hours) – set up, talking about the program with community, assisting children with instruments, passing out flyers, re-design library music hour flyer.

  • Recruitment in the schools – handing out training flyers at school open houses, performances, orientations, promoting the program and getting names of those interested in taking the training (online form).

  • Family Music Nights / Workshops (6:30-8:30 pm) - working with the Event Coordinator to help with the set up/take down of FMNs/workshops, taking photos, making egg shakers/kazoos/castanets, helping kids with arts/crafts at MFMII holiday event.

  • Annual fundraising concert & MFMII kids choir / kinder choir concerts – flyer creation, publicity, program creation, set up, decorations, ticket scan, handing out programs, supervising young performers, video, curtain, lights. Kids/Kinder choir concerts are in December and May.

  • Digitizing records, cassette tapes and VHS to CD/MP3/MP4/youtube.

  • Making small instrument kits to hand out to kids at our library musical hour/booths.

  • Making colorful song/lyric posters for our docents (PDF).

  • If you play an instrument, you could play/demonstrate it during our monthly Music & Movement For Kids sessions.
