The contest is open to students from TK to Grade 5 from Fremont, Newark, Milpitas, and Castro Valley. Entries must be submitted by February 1, 2026, 11:59 PM (PST). The participation fee is $15 per student per category.

Start by asking what your child is learning in their music classroom. We strongly encourage using MFMII’s syllabus and repertoire, though any child-friendly, school-approved performance is welcome.

Performances may be acapella
Instrumental or karaoke tracks are allowed
No prominent lead vocals on background tracks except for the contest

Maximum length: 120 seconds
Record in a quiet, well-lit area
Use landscape (horizontal) mode
Upload your video to YouTube, set its visibility to Unlisted (so only people with the link can see it), copy the shareable URL, and then paste that link into the official submission form
Go to the application form and paste the copied link into the designated field.

Yes. Videos may be disqualified if:
Audio or video clarity is poor
Performance exceeds time limit
Dress code or content violates school district guidelines
Payment of the $15 per-student entry fee was not received
The students are not from the listed school districts.

Small group entries are allowed only if all participants are in TK–Grade 5. Peer-based group performances are encouraged.

Complete the appropriate Individual or Group Entry Form, submit the YouTube link, and pay the entry fee by February 1, 2026.

A panel of experienced docents, musicians, and performers will judge and shortlist submissions.

All participants receive a Participation Certificate. Top winners receive awards presented at the Red Grammer Concert.

There will be no live performances during the contest. Winners will be invited to attend the awards ceremony.
